Kevin Kraft won Gold in the Pools with a Vanishing Edge (601 sq. ft. or more) category. It was designed for a $10 million home.
Nikolaus Bradley Adams of Frisco, Texas won Gold in the Residential Interior Pools category. Adams sought a thoroughly Greek-inspired pool facility with contemporary rectilinear components and Greek-Roman architectural elements. The ceiling uss LED lighting to create a mythological constellation.
David Barthel of Naturescapes Inc. won Gold in the Concrete Spas category with this multilevel waterfall and spa. The 6-person spa features multiple jets and LED lights, yet harmonizes with the natural setting thanks to large sandstone boulders covered with moss lichens.
Xavier Alvarez took home Gold in the Freeform category with this project. Located on top of a mountain in San Jose del Cabo, the view to the ocean and the bay is almost 180 degrees.
Corporate sponsors of the event included Latham Pool Products Inc., S.R. Smith, CNA Insurance, Hayward, Sundance Spas/Jacuzzi Hot Tubs and Lonza. Hundreds of installations were entered in the 2012 APSP International Awards of Excellence competition. During the ceremony, fifty-two builder-companies were announced as award recipients. There were 34 categories represented in total including six categories outside of the US and Canada.
“The winning installations demonstrate the beauty, desirability and fun of water in people’s lives, and we’re proud our members are reflecting success through this recognition,” said APSP President and CEO Bill Weber.
“Consumers looking for inspiration as they consider their own backyard escape will be able to view this year’s winners and even past recipients’ installations on the new APSP.org site coming in January,” added Weber.
