GAVA: Global AquaTekture Visionary Awards announces the winners for the 2011 competition. Produced by Three V Enterprises, a Las Vegas-based corporation, GAVA hosts an annual, world-wide competition open to design professionals of all genres. Among the 59 winners were projects from across the United States, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Central America and South America.
The recipients of this year’s honor were announced at the annual GAVA Awards Reception, Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Emcees for the evening were GAVA co-founder Joseph M. Vassallo, CBP (of Paragon Pools, Las Vegas) and GAVA advisory board member Brett Abbott (MYM, Austin). All GAVA winners will be included in a full-color book published by Schiffer Publishing, due for release in early Spring 2012. A GAVA gold-winning project from Stuart Bevan of Stuart Bevan Pools in Australia will be featured on the cover.
Finalist judges included Interior Designer Beatrice Pila-Gonzalez, ASID, B. Pila Design Studio Miami, Florida, Art Curator Marlaina Deppe, Novo Arts, Manhattan, New York, and Architect Shawn Godwin, BASE Architecture and Design Pty Ltd, Queensland, Australia.
According to GAVA, the judges rated entries on atypical designs and innovative applications that surpassed the boundaries of traditional water feature solutions, and special emphasis was placed on designs whose vision and creativity exemplify the best in AquaTekture — defined as the discipline of designing, engineering and erecting of water environments and ancillary components, in a harmonious nature with consideration to function, space and aesthetics.
