Founded in 2008 during the height of the economic downturn, Solid Structures built its business on operational discipline and client trust at a time when many contractors were exiting the market. Established in Virginia Beach by Scott Prunty, the company began as a custom deck builder and steadily evolved into a fully integrated outdoor living design-build firm serving the coastal Virginia region.
From the outset, the company prioritized structure and accountability.
“Our philosophy has always been simple,” says Bobby Earley, marketing manager. “Do what you say you’re going to do. Communicate clearly. Stand behind the work.”
That principle became the foundation for a defined design-build system that guides clients from consultation through completion. Each project follows a structured workflow that includes in-house 3D design, engineering coordination, permitting, construction sequencing and post- project warranty support. The goal is to reduce uncertainty, maintain schedule discipline and protect margins while delivering a high-end finished product.
Solid Structures has increasingly differentiated itself through visualization technology. Photorealistic 3D modeling allows homeowners to review layouts, elevations, materials and features before construction begins — minimizing mid- project change orders and improving production efficiency.
“We don’t rely on conceptual drawings alone,” says Earley. “Clients walk through their project virtually and approve the details before we break ground. That clarity improves execution.”
To support its growth, the company relocated from a 3,000-square-foot facility to an 8,000-square-foot headquarters and showroom situated on nearly three acres in Virginia Beach. The expanded space functions as both a client-facing design center and an operational hub, allowing the team to showcase full outdoor living environments while centralizing project management and coordination.
Strategic manufacturer partnerships have played a significant role in the company’s expansion. Solid Structures works closely with Imagine Pools, Jandy and Structure Outdoor, integrating fiberglass pools, automation systems and shade structures into cohesive backyard environments. In 2025, the company was named Imagine Pools’ North America Dealer of the Year and has earned multiple “Pool of the Month” honors for its fiberglass installations.
Operational consistency has also earned third-party recognition. In 2022, Solid Structures received the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics, an honor recognizing companies that demonstrate integrity, transparency and strong business practices.
While performance metrics and production systems remain central to the company’s growth, community involvement continues to shape its culture. Through the “Boot Salute of Hampton Roads” initiative — a partnership with Boot Campaign and FM99 — Solid Structures provides full backyard transformations for military families facing hardship.
“The military community is a major part of the Hampton Roads region,” says Earley. “Supporting those families is simply part of doing business here.”
Looking ahead, Solid Structures plans to continue refining its internal systems, investing in design technology and strengthening manufacturer relationships while expanding its presence in the coastal Virginia market. The company’s focus remains on scalable growth supported by structured processes, strong vendor partnerships and disciplined project execution.
Nearly two decades after its founding, the company’s approach remains consistent: combine design innovation with operational structure — and deliver on commitments.
