More than 500 attended Paragon Pools’ annual Float Like A Duck water safety event at the Heinrich YMCA on Saturday, May 21. The event, now in its eight year, was held in conjunction with National Water Safety Month. “Entire families come to the event eager to learn what they can do to keep everyone safe at their home pools, at public pools and at the lake,” said Joe Vassallo, president of Las Vegas-based Paragon Pools and a longtime water safety advocate. “Exposing every family member to good water safety practices and lifesaving skills is key to making everyone responsible poolside.” The three-hour event featured exhibits, hands-on activities, learn-to-float classes, parent-infant swim instruction, games and open swimming in the award-winning YMCA water park. Prizes were provided by the YMCA and Leslies Pool Supply. Appearing at the event were local news personalities, a firetruck and firefighters, and the Float Like A Duck Mascot, Duckie.
