To many of us living in the United States, the incredible architectural marvels that come out of certain parts of the world seem almost too impressive to be true. The city of Dubai is one of these places, where their continued advancements in technology and architecture keep our jaws on the floor and our imaginations expanding.
A recent design from London-based architectural firm, Foster + Partners, has revealed plans to build two new 180-meter-tall residential skyscrapers on the Marasi Marina in the Business Bay of the city — with a swimming pool linking the two buildings together at the penthouse level.
The skyscrapers, set to be named Regent Residences Dubai, will reportedly be built with 60 apartments total (one for each floor), and private pools on staggered outdoor terraces. The architects explained in a statement to Dezeen that this is to “give the [building facade] the appearance of cascading water.”
While the other apartments span only one floor of a single tower, the penthouse on the top floor will be a joint residence between the two, with the swimming pool bridging the gap as it balances between.
“Regent Residences Dubai’s dynamic twisting form and articulated facade will make it a distinctive new addition to Business Bay and the wider city,” Foster + Partners head of studio Gerard Evenden explains. “Our design harnesses connections to nature, with generous shaded terraces and optimized views of the waterfront.”
Known for its futuristic-looking architecture, the Regent Residences Dubai are sure to fit right into the existing landscape. Between the green space at the ground floor of the building, the finishing touches of water features, restaurants, fitness spaces and more, there’s guaranteed to be something that catches your eye.
Visit Dubai and get a taste of the future, one suspended penthouse pool at a time.
