Why build a swimming pool in the backyard when you can have one in your living room?

Designed by Thailand-based architectural studio Anonym, Pridi 41 House is a stunning residential project in Bangkok where comfort, luxury and wellness join hands to create a show- stopping family home. From the outside, the home has sharp corners and firm edges, creating a geometric masterpiece; inside, the home takes shape into an experience visitors won’t soon forget.

Alongside the second floor common area — with a living room, dining room, kitchen and exercise area — sits the inground swimming pool, sunken into the floor like a conversation pit from the 1970s. It spans almost the entire length of one side of the home, brushing up against the living room, fitness room and outdoor dining area, providing a perfect bridge between the home and the outside world.

The architects cite spatial flow as a major detail in the house that took careful consideration during the design process. “The main living area’s double-space volume extends to activity spaces on the third and fourth floors, which also boast spacious, high ceilings,” the architects shared in a statement to ArchDaily. “The deliberate connection between these two function areas creates living spaces that feel more home-like because of the way certain parts of the house are visually connected.”

Furthermore, the visual connection between the many different spaces of the home emphasizes the harmony of each detail, from the swimming pool to the family spaces and individual rooms.

“Despite the fact that the primary living area is located on the second floor rather than the ground floor,” the architects continue, “Pridi House was materialized with the purpose of providing the occupants and living spaces with the best thermal comfort possible...With the walls protecting the home from the north, passersby are unable to see the people or activities taking place within.”

In a fantastic display of architectural prowess, Pridi 41 House maximizes airflow and spatial connectivity, simulating the sensation of privacy in the outdoors despite its location in the middle of the largest city in Thailand. Taking a lap in its pool transports you from the big city to the great outdoors, one stroke at a time.
