The Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center features a 50-meter pool with eight lanes and a 10-meter diving platform; the center opened in November 2017. The large surface area and deep water also called for a powerful circulation system, so Bevard turned to Pentair’s Aurora line of commercial pumps as the basis of design. Specifically, it’s two 40-horsepower, fusion-bonded epoxy-coated cast-iron recirculation pumps and a smaller 2-horse drain-down and agitation pump.

The 120,000-square-foot facility is part of NAU’s $36.6 million Aquatics and Tennis Complex (which opened in 2016), and it immediately became regarded as one of the finest aquatic facilities in the country. When the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, Iowa, opened the Wellmark YMCA branch in an old convention center in 2015, it was hailed as the largest downtown YMCA in the United States. With 180,000 square feet of space that included an eight-lane, 50-meter competitive pool. Pentair built a plan that included a variety of on-deck equipment particularly 16 Paragon Track Start Plus+ STS Competitor starting platforms that feature an adjustable backplate, side steps and side handgrips. Having the Paragon starting platforms allows for multiple facility configurations.
