Since 1965, Alpine Pools has been helping homeowners across Western Pennsylvania make the most of summer. What began as a single location installing aboveground pools, inground pools and hot tubs has grown into a four-store operation serving the greater Pittsburgh region in Allison Park, Bethel Park, Cranberry Township and Jeannette, giving the company broad coverage across five counties.
“Our philosophy has always been simple,” says Tom Esser, vice president. “Sell the best products in the swimming pool industry and install them correctly.”
That straightforward approach has helped Alpine Pools build a loyal customer base over the decades. The company keeps highly trained installers and service professionals on staff year-round — something customers appreciate when questions or problems arise outside of the traditional swim season. “Our customers know the phone always answers when they need us,” says Esser.
That reliability shows up in the field as well. Alpine’s crews are known for tackling installations that require a little extra creativity — from maneuvering fiberglass pools through tight Pittsburgh alleyways to craning hot tubs onto high-rise condos overlooking the city.
“Our can-do attitude runs through every department,” Esser says. “If there’s a way to get the job done, we’ll find it.”
Service calls follow the same philosophy. Instead of simply swapping parts in hopes of solving a problem, Alpine’s technicians focus on diagnosing the root cause of an issue and fixing it properly. “If there’s a simple solution, we offer it,” says Esser. “That’s always been our approach.”
Inside the stores, Alpine Pools keeps the shopping experience straightforward and easy to navigate. Each showroom is designed with a logical flow so customers can quickly find what they need — from chemicals and maintenance products to accessories and outdoor living items — while still discovering add-on items along the way.
The company also maintains a strong digital presence to support its retail and service operations. Its website has evolved through multiple redesigns and is now supported by an active presence on social platforms including Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Digital advertising campaigns help keep Alpine visible online, while traditional channels like radio, television and newspaper advertising still play an important role in reaching local customers.
Behind the scenes, Alpine Pools uses the Evosus business management platform to coordinate scheduling, inventory and customer communications. The team also participates in regular training with manufacturers and attends national trade shows to stay up to date on new products and installation techniques.
When it comes to marketing, Alpine Pools’ strongest tool is still the simplest. “Our best marketing is word of mouth,” says Esser. In addition, one particularly successful promotion has been the company’s annual spa truckload sale, which brings large volumes of hot tubs to its locations and introduces new customers to the Alpine brand.
Future plans include updating the company’s pool park and continuing to identify the products customers want most — while maintaining the trained staff and reliable service that built the business in the first place. Because after 62 years in business, Alpine Pools continues to prove that a combination of experience, value and a willingness to tackle any job can go a long way in this industry they call home.
