This holiday, some spa customers took a gamble on the weather and won big.
Tuff Spas of Depew, N.Y., ran an exciting promotion: Anyone who purchased a hot tub between Dec. 1-20 would get it for free if rain or snow fell on Christmas Day. The same promotion was offered across 16 markets in the year prior, and Old Man Winter didn’t deliver.
But as we all know, 2020 worked in mysterious ways. Before sunrise on Dec. 25, Buffalo got four inches of snow — and 18 lucky buyers scored free spas.
For Frank Guido of Blasdell, the waiting game was a nail-biter.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we were watching the weather so closely, and we couldn’t get any readings out of the airport, so I was skeptical the whole time,” he says.
Another man ended up winning not one, but two free hot tubs: one for himself, and one that he’d purchased for his parents.
“I lived with my parents until a few months ago, and I originally said I was going to get a hot tub there,” Jazey Walker says. “I went into my own house, and I wanted to get my own there, and there was this promotion, so I bought one for myself and one for my parents as a thank you for everything they’ve done.”
Asked whether the promotion would be offered next year, Tuff Spas Sales Director Mace Cohen said he wasn’t sure yet.
“That’s a good question for the owner,” says Cohen. “I don’t know. I’m guessing so. I mean, he’s thrilled that we were able to give away so many Christmas presents to customers.”
