A recently released annual report on the U.S. residential pool industry provides in-depth analysis of the pandemic surge in the pool and spa industry, broken down by different sectors such as ingrounds, abovegrounds, portable spas, etc.

The report, released last week by research firm Pkdata, details the scope of 2020’s effect on the economy and residential pool industry. Says Jerry Kisgen, executive director of Pkdata’s Pool and Spa Division: "2020 was a banner year for the residential pool construction industry…Consumer demand for new pools was off the charts. Many builders experienced over 400% more leads in comparison to the prior year. The leads came in so fast that it was impossible to follow up with them in a timely manner."

Both residential inground pool construction and aboveground pool sales were significantly up over 2019; remodeling and aftermarket sales also fared quite well. Pkdata’s findings are informed with extensive survey, economic, mapping, construction and sales data.
