Olympic Hot Tub kicks off its annual Founder’s Event, honoring founders Alice Cunningham and Blair Osborn and their legacy of giving. This year, Olympic Hot Tub is raising funds for Step Into Swim, an initiative of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance dedicated to creating more swimmers through safe swim education and drowning prevention.
“Alice & Blair, both brilliant businesspeople, were passionate about giving back and supporting causes that improve people’s lives,” says Olympic Hot Tub President Don Riling. “Step Into Swim’s commitment to water safety and helping more children gain access to lifesaving swim lessons is a natural fit for Olympic Hot Tub.”
Olympic will donate a portion of each saltwater Hot Spring Spa, Endless Pools swim spa and Tylo Sauna sale toward the Founder’s Event goal of $20,000. Funds raised will support Step Into Swim’s work providing grants to learn-to-swim programs and expanding access to swim lessons for children who might not otherwise have access to water safety education.
Step Into Swim is the philanthropic initiative of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), and provides funding for swim lessons for children and families who may not otherwise have access to them. With drowning the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 in the United States, the organization is focused on expanding access to formal swim instruction and helping children develop essential swimming and water-safety skills.
“This partnership is about investing in the safety of children right here in our community,” says Jillian Wilkins, manager of Step Into Swim. “Every dollar raised will help provide local children with access to swim lessons, giving them the skills and confidence to be safer around the water. With every donation matched by the PHTA Board of Directors, our community’s generosity will go twice as far — helping us create more swimmers and a safer future for Washington families.”
“Our company has always been focused on the health and wellness of our customers — one of the reasons we’ve adopted Better You…Better Life as Olympic’s mantra,” says Riling. “Water is at the heart of what we do, so we’re hopeful our customers and communities will join us in supporting Step Into Swim and help give more children access to this lifesaving skill.”
