The Waldo Canyon Fire, which started in the hills outside Colorado Springs Saturday and moved into residential areas by Tuesday, has forced the National Swimming Pool Foundation from its headquarters, which are located near the mountains to the west of the city.
According to spokesperson Laurie Batter, the evacuation was orderly, and employees were allowed to enter the building and remove what they needed to continue working.
“The Foundation is operating, and people are working out of a different facility,” Batter said. “They’re productive and able to respond to requests and orders and other needs.”
Dr. Thomas M. Lachocki, NSPF CEO, said, “It’s an unusual situation, but this is business as usual.”
