The Independent Pool Spa Services Association (IPSSA) and its various California chapters demonstrated strong support for SPEC at the association’s Annual Leadership Meeting in Newport Beach. Representatives of IPSSA and its various chapters presented contributions totaling $40,000 to John A. Norwood, President of SPEC.
“The outpouring of support for SPEC was truly humbling,” said Norwood. “It is confirmation that the pool service industry recognizes the need to have strong representation in Sacramento before the Legislature and regulatory agencies.”

“This strong show of support could not have come at a better time,” said Mike Geremia, President of Geremia Pools in Sacramento and SPEC Board Chairman. “In this tough economy we are trying to grow SPEC so we can meet our budget and create a strong grassroots network to support the Sacramento efforts of SPEC. “
“SPEC is about to launch an effort to attract 1,000 new members to help accomplish this goal. If we are going to be successful in protecting and defending the interests of the spa and pool industry we need hundreds of members throughout the state we can call for grassroots political efforts. This is why we reduced membership to $100 per year (or $9.00 per month) for the service industry.”
