As with the Genesis 3 Platinum membership, APLD members adhere to a code of professional standards, encourage continuing education, and stay up to date about new developments and latest trends throughout the field.
"The Association of Professional Landscape Design and Genesis 3 are partnering to build the education in the landscape design world of pools and patios. Neither a pool nor a patio can stand alone without a good overall landscape design. In the same way, good landscapes need relaxing outdoor spaces and water in the form of pools, water features, fountains etc. as part of the design,” says Colleen Hamilton, APLD sponsorship chairman. “Both APLD and Genesis 3 realize the expertise that can be provided by the other and are working together to build this partnership.”
Combined with Genesis 3’s IACET accreditation program, APLD also offers its members a certification program – the only one of its kind – that provides professional recognition to those designers who can pass a rigorous peer review program.
“No other educational system in the pool, spa and landscape industry has the scope and third party accreditation that Genesis 3 and its participants enjoy,” says Brian Van Bower, president and co-founder of Genesis 3.
During the upcoming Int’l Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, endorsed by Genesis 3 and scheduled to open November 6 in New Orleans, APLD members Colleen Hamilton and Marti Neely will present two seminars entitled “APLD: We Define Landscape Design around Water Features,” and “APLD: We Define Landscape Design Around Your Patio”. Both 1-hour seminars take place on the show floor in the Genesis 3 Lifestyle Booth on Wednesday, November 6. APLD will also have a booth on the show floor (#3049).
Genesis 3 will also offer the 8-hour “Introduction to Perspective Drawing,” the 3-day “Elements of Construction School” and (3) 20 hour “Design Schools: 20th Century Architectural Styles,” “Elements of Design” and “SketchUp.”
Other classes that may appeal to APLD members are “Frank Lloyd Wright - American Architect: 1867-1959,” presented by Michael Johnson, professor of architecture with Taliesin and “Innovative Natural Watershape” Design by Anthony Archer-Wills and Dave Duensing.
