In much of the nation's midsection and the South, vast swaths are under either “severe” or “extreme” drought conditions, according to the University of Nebraska’s Drought Mitigation Center. These conditions make it likely that pools and hot tubs will be targeted for water-usage restriction by state and local government officials, APSP says. Under “exceptional” conditions (often categorized as Level III or IV), all non-essential water uses are subject to review and restriction.
