For 40 years, Horizon Pool & Patio has been the trusted pool and spa expert in Western Palm Beach County. Founded in 1985 by Chuck and Linda Grove, the company was built on a simple goal: to provide high-quality products and services while fostering a strong, family-oriented culture. Today, their daughter, Jennifer Grove Kenbeek, and grandsons, Jesse Ballard and Jordan Grove, continue that legacy. Jennifer became part-owner in 2015, while Jesse and Jordan joined as owners in 2022. The leadership team also includes Jennifer’s husband, Sales and Retail Manager John Kenbeek, Accounting Manager Sydney Knowles, and General Manager Chad Gardner, who has been with the company for 21 years and serves as vice president of the Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA).
Horizon provides residential and commercial pool services, with eight full-time technicians maintaining hundreds of pools across the area. “Our reputation for honesty, integrity, and excellent service has made us a staple in the community,” says Jordan Grove. “We don’t just meet expectations — we exceed them.”
Horizon’s retail store in Wellington, Fla., offers a welcoming environment where customers receive expert advice, water testing, and pool care guidance. “We want our customers to feel at home,” says John Kenbeek. “They trust our recommendations because we build relationships, not just sell products.” The showroom features a wide selection of pool tiles, surfaces, and accessories, along with a comfortable space for project consultations. Kids enjoy ice pops or stickers, and dogs get treats, making visits enjoyable for the whole family.
Horizon has fully embraced the digital age, maintaining an active presence on Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, and Ring. “We love engaging with our customers and being part of online community discussions,” says Kellie Ballard, who manages social media for the company. Horizon also creates short videos that highlight before-and-after pool remodels, helping clients visualize potential transformations.
One of Horizon’s most successful marketing strategies came from a single pool remodel that led to multiple jobs on the same street. After that experience, Jesse suggested placing signs in the yards of ongoing remodels. “It worked — people saw our work firsthand, and the jobs just kept rolling in,” says Jesse Ballard. Horizon’s full-time repair department handles everything from equipment repairs to full upgrades, including heater installations, salt systems, automation, and lighting. They also specialize in complete pool renovations, having completed close to 1,500 renovations over the years. “We have the biggest and best showroom in Palm Beach County, with thousands of tile samples, surfaces, and even photos of jobs we’ve completed,” says the team.
As Horizon transitions into its second and third generations of leadership, Chuck Grove is preparing for retirement. “It is incredibly rewarding to trust both the family and our dedicated employees to continue this legacy. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved,” says Chuck. “What truly distinguishes Horizon is its family-first culture, which extends to both employees and customers.” The company prioritizes its staff by offering flexibility and compassion, celebrating milestones such as graduations, new babies, weddings, and U.S. citizenship achievements.
Horizon is also deeply committed to giving back to the community, supporting causes from hurricane relief to local charity partnerships. Following the recent devastation caused by tornadoes in the area, Horizon donated a portion of its cleanup profits to local recovery efforts.
With nearly four decades of experience, a dedicated leadership team, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, Horizon Pool & Patio continues to transform backyards into beautiful, stress-free retreats. “We’re not just a pool company,” says Chuck Grove. “We’re an integral part of the community.”
