Watkins Manufacturing, a Masco company, recently manufactured its millionth hot tub, a milestone it claims to be the first to reach. The company used the occasion to recognize its employees’ “significant and ongoing commitment to excellence” with celebrations at its manufacturing plants in California and Mexico. The company is also making a donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which is honoring four Californian first responders at its national commemoration later this month.
“The effort to commemorate this manufacturing milestone in the spa industry comes with a sincere wish to thank the people who have made Watkins a long-term success story,” said Steve Hammock, president of Watkins Manufacturing. “It is the passion of our employees, along with the dedication of our loyal retailers, that ultimately creates our ongoing value —and for this we sincerely thank them all.”
Watkins says its average employee has been with the company for more than 10 years and share its long tradition and strong culture of corporate responsibility and community giving to charities such as Children’s Hospital, the Boys and Girls Club, and North County Solutions for Change.
Watkins will hold an online auction for the millionth hot tub and will donate the proceeds, plus a matching amount, to the chosen charity. On behalf of the Watkins employees, the company will match 100 percent of the dealer’s winning auction bid for the “One Millionth Hot Tub,” effectively doubling the donation. The dealer auction winner and final donation amount will be announced in late October.
