Industry veteran Norman Cardinal, known for founding Hydroqual Corporation as well as his active role in promoting education with NESPA, passed away February 1.
Cardinal’s career in the pool and spa industry spanned over 40 years. In 1976, he formed Hydroqual Corporation, a manufacturer’s representative agency that helped many companies see success. He was instrumental in pioneering industry education and training as a member of the NESPA board of directors when the Region I Hands on Training School began. The program later evolved into the current CPO programs. Cardinal also wrote and produced lesson plans for the first Spa Training Program.

Cardinal received two degrees: a B.S. in electrical engineering from Norwich University and an MBA in marketing and economics from Syracuse University. He proudly served as an officer in the United States Army during the Vietnam war.
A loyal and trusted professional, Cardinal was a great mentor and friend; someone who left a lasting impression on the lives of many and will be missed by all.
