Spotlight is a monthly feature in AQUA magazine that takes a brief look at an innovative product, project or whatever catches our eye. This month, we got the details on this project by Atlantis Pools in Clifton, N.J.
This pool just goes to show how much fun you can have with a vinyl liner pool and some great features like a grotto, a slide, a splash deck and a spillover spa.
The pool is 42½ feet long with a custom “L” liner with Grecian corners, a custom Grecian bench seat and 18-foot Roman stairs for the entry.
The deep end has a 7½-foot-high grotto with a swim-in sun step and a three-tier waterfall (which you can also enter from the side). Fog emanates from the grotto and the slide, and on a warm day, it drifts across the pool surface along with the sound of falling water.
There are seven illuminated deck jets placed equally around the pool and perimeter, and fiber-optic lighting in the play area, under the slide and in the decking; two movable optic lights can be found in the grotto. The six-person raised spillover spa with optic lighting was built to be used in conjunction with the pool or to operate independently.
Old World Tobacco-stained stamped concrete surrounds the pool (with a portion of it stained but unstamped) and is balanced in hue with tricolor pavers as an egress from the pool to the home and all entrances as well. “This pool was designed for fun, yet to have a warm and tranquil setting,” says builder Dean Marelli. That goal was clearly accomplished.
