GENESIS is pleased to announce Ken Milbery as its new waterproofing & tile installation faculty advisor. Milbery is director of technical services for Lunada Bay Tile and has been working in the pool industry for over 25 years.

Prior to joining Lunada Bay Tile, Milbery worked for National Pool Tile as a building material specialist. He brings a deep understanding of waterproofing, glass tile installation systems and building material technologies to each GENESIS course he teaches.

Being based in Southern California has meant that Milbery worked with and learned from some of the most elite luxury pool contractors and is now highly regarded as one of the pool industry’s top specialists. He has been a GENESIS instructor since 2018 and has taught numerous classes on dampproofing/waterproofing and tile installation. Milbery is part of the team of instructors for C201: GENESIS Construction School: Concrete Pools, which hundreds of students take every year.

“GENESIS education offers professionals access to the latest trends, research and practices in their industry, enabling them to stay relevant and valuable to their craft,” says Milbery. “In my new role, it is important to recognize the power of education in shaping the future of pool building and to approach teaching with a sense of purpose and inspiration. I am excited to join my mentors on this new journey.”

In his role as waterproofing & tile installation faculty advisor, Milbery will focus on updating resources for students, enhancing the existing curriculum to include the latest industry technologies, and working with his fellow faculty members to develop new courses that stay on top of the latest industry trends and topics.

“For many years, Milbery has been at the top of this industry in terms of tile installation and waterproofing,” says Skip Phillips, GENESIS co-founder and certified master pool builder & design professional. “He is the perfect fit for our faculty. We are excited to have him take on this new role!”
