BioGuard and Dealers Partner to Raise $97,000 in 2012 for BioGuard Splash for CF
BioGuard Splash for CF is celebrating a very successful 2012 season. More than 50 BioGuard dealers raised money for the cause, adding more than $40,000 to this year's grand total of $97,000, which will support the fight against cystic fibrosis and provide treatment and assistance to CF patients across the country.
This was BioGuard’s fifth year partnering with Emily Schreiber’s Laps for CF Foundation to make a difference in the lives of CF patients. The company donates a percentage of sales of sanitizer products in addition to what dealers raise individually.
CF patients cannot be around each other due to the risk of spreading bacteria and different infections. Because of this, CF can be a very isolating disease. When CF patients are hospitalized — sometimes for up to two to three weeks at a time — they are not allowed to leave their hospital rooms. Although many children’s hospitals have playrooms and activity centers, CF patients are usually not allowed to visit these areas. Therefore, even the smallest thing like a coloring book and some crayons to use while hospitalized can help make a tremendous impact on a child with CF and their family.
Schreiber has CF and knows what it is like to spend time in the hospital. Over the years, she has raised money to drastically improve the CF Care Center in Birmingham, her hometown. It is her passion to improve these centers across the country where patients spend so much of their time. For more information, visit www.splashforcf.org
