Submit entries for the 2009 AQUA Choice Awards

Kirstin PiresWith the Academy Awards, The Golden Globes and the Grammys just around the corner, it's award season for celebrities and their fans. And it's no different for the pool and hot tub industry. In this issue we announce the winners of the AQUA Choice Awards, while our own pool and spa "celebrity judges" are hard at work evaluating voluminous AQUA 100 entries in preparation for honoring those winners in the April issue.

This year's winning AQUA Choice projects came from all over North America and included projects both grand and small. Among them are at least one first-time entrant and a seasoned pro who practically seems like part of the family (but don't worry, our judges never know the identities of the builders when they evaluate the entries).

As usual, we were overwhelmed with the number of high-quality projects we saw. Not only are builders pushing the creative envelope, but also more builders are including things like rockwork, waterfalls, vanishing edges and overflows in their standard skill sets. They are raising the bar. The more beautiful and engaging our pools and spas are, the more satisfying they are to current customers and the more desirable they are to future ones.

We know that AQUA readers stay busy all year, but chances are good you may be a little less busy in January and February. If you're feeling inspired - or maybe you've recently completed a project that you think is better than those you've seen in our AQUA Choice features - now is a great time to submit your entries. Although the deadline isn't until July, you can enter your projects online at any time.

So congratulations to the winners and to all the entrants who shared their work with us. We're proud to be a part of the industry here at AQUA, but we are fans, too. It's a privilege to spend time with - and learn from - your work.
