Breaking Records and Taking Names

Breaking Records and Taking NamesThousands of people across the globe took part in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson on June 3. While it may take some time to tally up the total number of participants to confirm a Guinness World Record, there's no doubt the event was a success. Participants took part in step-by-step lessons for everything from safely getting in and out of the pool, floating, and the front stroke, to blowing bubbles and holding your breath under water.

SPEC has launched the final phase of its three-part action campaign designed to help the industry fight against illegal contractors. The campaign is designed to support recent legislation, collaborate with agencies and industry members to catch illegal contractors in the act, and educate the industry and consumers on how to protect themselves. Paddock Pool Equipment Co. signed on as a corporate sponsor of the 26th Annual Charlotte UltraSwim, which drew the likes of Olympians Michael Phelps and Ricky Berens. The yearly competitive event hosts national champions, Olympians, the best college teams and some high school athletes.

Builder Projections

State of the IndustryWhile 21 percent of builders surveyed for the State of the Industry issue predict their 2010 revenues will remain unchanged, 42 percent expect a 1 to 15 percent increase in revenues, citing an improved economy on the horizon and consumers' willingness - maybe even desire - to spend again.
