National Pool Partners (NPP) announced that it has acquired Ambiance Pool Service & Supplies of Tucson, Ariz. Ambiance will serve as NPP’s consumer-facing pool service brand in Tucson while Aquaman Pools will remain its brand in the greater Phoenix, Ariz., area. Since its launch in January 2021, NPP has become the fastest growing pool service aggregator in the country and established itself as the go-to acquirer for the industry’s most successful and respected service brands.
One of the most decorated pool service companies in the country, Ambiance Pool Service & Supplies has been recognized in the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies and is the only Tucson-based company to land on Pool & Spa News’ Top 50 Service Companies list three years in a row. Ambiance has also won the Arizona Daily Star Readers’ Choice award in 2021 and the Best of the Northwest award in 2020, reinforcing why it’s one of the biggest brands in Arizona.
Founded by Michael Baker in 2009, Ambiance started as a one-man company and grew to service hundreds of pools a week in Tucson with an exceptionally diversified array of pool service offerings. Pleatco’s Perfect PoolGuy winner for 2021, Baker will join NPP as area director, responsible for all Tucson operations while also maintaining his leadership role as branch manager of Ambiance.
“We’re excited to be bringing on the pedigreed company that Michael has built along with his presence as a vivacious, hungry leader who’s truly at the top of the industry,” says Chad Nikkel, founding partner and regional president at NPP. “NPP is proud to be entering a new market with a well-established brand that has a reputation of being consumer-focused and forward thinking. NPP is already the fastest growing acquisition company in the industry, and the outlook for what’s to come is very exciting.”
As consolidation within the pool industry continues to intensify, Baker was interested in exiting his ownership so that he could focus on operations while also providing new opportunities for his employees. In selecting a suitor, Baker wanted to ensure the company culture he’d crafted was preserved and that the Ambiance legacy would be protected.
“We received offers from other acquisition companies, but chose NPP based on its capital and leadership, but mostly because it’s a pool company at heart,” says Baker. “They checked all the boxes and there isn’t another brand out there whose core values better align with ours.”
