Pinch A Penny continues its expansion in Texas with its first location in Austin.
The Pinch A Penny Pool Patio Spa store opened on Friday, October 28 at 11521 N FM 620 in the HEB Shopping Center. The store also held a grand opening on Saturday, October 29 featuring a magician, balloon artist, giveaways of pizza and other items, including a robotic pool cleaner, valued at approximately $1,500.
The new store will be owned by Austin resident Joe Pruett. Pruett is a certified public accountant and previously held several different CFO roles prior to coming to Pinch A Penny. He believes his financial experience will be an asset in operating the daily operations of the store. Pruett spent six years in the Air Force and served in Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
According to Redfin, there are more than 5,000 homes in Austin with pools on the market during October alone. The area represents a high-demand, underserved market for pool services. Pruett sees an opportunity to provide quality pool services with a fair price to alleviate the backlog of people in the area looking for pool maintenance and supplies.
“I spent 15 years looking for the right franchise opportunity, and I finally found the perfect fit with Pinch A Penny,” says Pruett. “We have a great product and service, and I look forward to being a trusted advisor to pool owners across Austin by taking care of all their pool maintenance needs.”
Pruett was drawn to Pinch A Penny’s reputation for quality and fairness. Prior to the opening of the storefront location, Pruett started with Pinch A Penny in January by servicing pools, doing repairs and selling products.

In addition to pool supply retail, Pinch A Penny offers ongoing maintenance and repair services, like water testing and pool service, as well as pool renovations, leak detection, pressure washing, landscape lighting and more. The new store will be open seven days a week with operating hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
