The Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA) continues to grow and has created more opportunities for its members and chapters to earn recognition for excellence in the pool and spa service industry through demonstrated acts of community, education and support. IPSSA added new awards for its members in 2023 and has now selected winners from several terrific applicants! These awards will be formally presented at their annual banquet on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

The new awards are designed specifically for service professionals that are IPSSA members. The IPSSA Chapter of the Year award will be given to the Region 7 San Diego Metro Chapter β€” a chapter that is focused on inspiring other IPSSA members and pool and spa service professionals throughout the industry. This chapter alone raised over $21,000 from several auctions and a regional picnic. The funds raised at these events go to the San Diego Drowning Prevention Foundation, two swim schools, a gift to a longtime PEP employee who recently passed away from cancer, gift cards to a family in the area who lost their home to a fire, donations to homeless students as well as funds to several other local San Diego charities. This chapter qualified for the award because 100% of its members have completed compliant water chemistry courses, provided sick route coverage for their members and members in nearby chapters and was one of two IPSSA chapter to increase their membership!

The newest award created by IPSSA, The Pool Professional of Tomorrow Award, will be given to Aden Dunne of Classic Pools & Spas in Encinitas, Calif. Having been raised in the industry, riding in his family’s service truck after school, Aden exemplifies the IPPSA core values of community, education, and support while working constantly to ensure the IPSSA association members are kept up to speed on the latest technology and invests in helping members get the education and support they need to be successful.

β€œWe are so pleased by the enthusiastic response we received to these new awards and are pleased to honor the hard work and success of both the Region 7 San Diego Metro Chapter as well as the accomplishments of Aden Dunne,” notes Rose Smoot, executive director of IPSSA. β€œWe look forward to gathering for our annual Weekend of Inspiration, where we will formally present these awards.”

Since its inception in 1988, IPSSA was established to promote educational opportunities and provide business support and resources to its members. These awards are part of IPSSA’s continued desire to engage IPSSA members, and the criteria reflect the organization’s core values of community, education, and support of all IPSSA members. The weekend of inspiration will take place at The Westin Long Beach in Long Beach, Calif., on February 3 and 4, 2024.
