It's true: pool pros have hobbies beyond the backyard. Take it from Terry Arko, an industry veteran with a knack for prose.
Arko, a pool and spa chemical expert, rang in the new year with the release of his poetry book, Out of the Dark House.
"I am a technical writer by trade, so poetry offers me an escape from the more mundane industrial articles I work on day to day," his bio reads.
At 127 pages, Out of the Dark House is "a collection of poems meant to inspire, bring hope, cause doubt, challenge thoughts and lead to a faith of what is unseen." The book contains poems "for those who feel the inconsolable longing on the path of this world...for all who seek contemplation and are looking for hope within the struggle."
As an addition, there are four biographical epic poems on the lives of St. Francis of Assisi, Vincent Van Gogh, Robert F. Kennedy and George Harrison.
A true Renaissance man, Arko has over 40 years of experience in the pool and spa industry, working in service, repair, retail sales, chemical manufacturing and product development. He currently works for HASA.
