AQUA EditorsPoolsNYC's First Floating Pool In 70 YearsThe "Floating Pool Lady" offered New Yorkers a chance to swim in the East River without actually swimming in the East River this past summer. Located at Barretto Point Park in the Bronx, the "Floating Pool Lady" is a unique freshwater pool built into a barge with a breathtaking view of the New York City waterfront.During the naming of the pool, Buttenwieser was intent on trying to associate the name with the Neptune Foundation. However, Kirschenfeld had been at a Community Board meeting where someone had announced, "Here comes the floating pool lady!" when Buttenwieser walked in the door.
