2014 PSP Expo

Between ever-warm temperatures, theme parks and attractions, Florida has a lot going for it as a family-friendly destination. Another big piece of the (key lime) pie: swimming. According to P.K. Data, Florida ranks second in the country when it comes to pools, both in total count and new installs. For hot tubs and commercial pools, Florida also comes in second in total units across the country.
All of the above explains why, for the first time in seven years, the PSP Expo is heading to Florida. But it’s not only the shift in locale that has people buzzing — this year’s show features the co-location of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers’ International Landscape Design Conference. As more designers begin to think outside the pool and create entire backyard masterpieces, the co-location will offer attendees of both events the opportunity to cross-pollinate and expand their skill set.
“This strategic partnership brings a great opportunity to both groups of show attendees,” says Tracy Garcia, CEM, director of the PSP Expo. “APLD brings a valuable perspective to the industry.”
The APLD show will feature a 1,000-square-foot landscape pavilion and offer a keynote presentation from Ray Jungles, a landscape architect whose private garden and resort hotel landscape designs have been honored with more than 35 design awards.
Also new to the Expo this year is Houzz, the interior/exterior design website that’s taking the industry by storm. At their 2,000 square foot exhibit, attendees can get one-on-one training and professional help setting up their online Houzz profiles.
As always, the Expo offers an impressive gamut of education about the latest design trends, marketing tactics, management strategies and more. For those who aspire to design magazine-worthy waterscapes, Genesis 3 will also be on hand with its own Design-Build-Landscape Pavilion and educational sessions. Not to mention the more than 1,400 exhibition booths, providing an endless undulating aisle of exploration.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the PSP Expo if there wasn’t some fun involved. The annual Welcome Party is scheduled for Nov. 5 at B.B. King’s Blues Club. Expect to groove on some great music, meet some new people and enjoy a few Southern-inspired appetizers. “With new key partnerships, our APLD co-location event and the incredible wave of exhibitors and products being presented at the 2014 PSP Expo, it is going to be a stellar event for the industry,” Garcia says.
