Big Blue Swim School — a family-first swim school brand that helps children make meaningful progress in the water while building confidence every step of the way — announced the September 19 reopening of its Wilmette location following a significant investment in facility renovations.
The enhancements reflect Big Blue's continued commitment to providing the best possible experience for local families, creating an even more welcoming environment where children feel encouraged throughout their swim journey and parents feel supported from the moment they walk through the door.
Conveniently located at 3232 Lake Avenue in the Edens Plaza, near I-94 and the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Lake Avenue, the new swim school has been thoughtfully refreshed to enhance the experience for every family who walks through its doors.
Updates include new showers and tile walls on the pool deck, upgraded changing room partitions, fresh carpeting in the lobby and changing room, new reception desk stations, freshly painted white ceilings with all-new lighting throughout the facility, an upgraded hair dryer station, new restroom lighting and sinks, and Big Blue murals throughout the lobby and pool area. Together, these improvements create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for families while refreshing the spaces they use throughout each visit.
“Every improvement we make to our swim schools is about creating a better experience for the families who spend time with us each week,” says Tom Dolan, president of Corporate Pools at Big Blue Swim School. “The updates in Wilmette will provide families with a refreshed, comfortable viewing area and the space for children to continue building their skills and confidence in the water. We’re proud to continue investing in this community and look forward to serving Wilmette families for years to come.”
To mark the grand reopening, Big Blue Wilmette will host a Grand Reopening Celebration on Saturday, September 26, from 12 to 4 p.m. Free for enrolled families, prospective members and the local community, the celebration will feature a DJ, face painting, balloon artists, snacks and beverages, along with tours of the newly renovated facility and opportunities to meet the local team and learn more about Big Blue's specialized, progress-driven curriculum. The grand reopening provides an ideal opportunity to begin or continue swim lessons. New families can also sign up for a free trial lesson and learn more about available programs on the website.
At Big Blue, lessons are offered across four progressive levels — Baby Blue, Bright Blue, Bold Blue and Big Blue — each designed with a specific class ratio to best support swimmers based on age and skill level. Lessons are 30 minutes in length for all levels except Big Blue, which is a 45-minute class to accommodate more advanced swimmers. Private lessons are available upon request, though standard class ratios are intentionally structured to balance socialization with individualized instructor attention.
