Big changes are coming to Team Horner. Bill Kent, owner and president, announced he will be stepping back from his role and passing the reins to Mike Dooley, whose term as president will begin in April. In turn, Kent will become the new chairman of the board.
In addition, Kent is selling the company to his employees through an employee-owned stock plan. As he writes in his letter released to the industry, he is financially obligated to Team Horner until the new stock plan repays its debt for the purchase of the company, which should take five to 10 years. After that point, Team Horner employees assume 100 percent ownership.
Team Horner is a Fort Lauderdale-based swimming pool supply distribution, manufacturing and export company founded in 1969. Team Horner includes such respected brands as HornerXpress Distribution, HornerXpress Worldwide, AquaCal Heat Pumps, AutoPilot Salt Chlorine Generators, Lo-Chlor Chemicals, TropiClear Chemicals, TileXpressions, BackyardXpo and StoneHardscapes.
