CCEI — manufacturer of automation and controller systems in the United States as well as lighting systems in Canada, Mexico and Europe — recently sponsored a robotics team who earned a spot at the FIRST Tech International Robotics Competition that took place in Long Island, N.Y., at the end of March. The competition brings together over 8,000 teams from all over the world. The CCEI-sponsored team is comprised of high school students that are members of their school’s robotics club. The club previously won awards for the “Control Award” in 2022 and 2023 as well as the “Think Award” in England in 2021.
During the 2024 competition on Long Island, the team competed in several days of events in a wide range of categories. This year’s CCEI-sponsored team won the robotic “Imagery Award” created in the honor of the famous comic book illustrator, Jack Kamen. The award recognizes robotic engineering with outstanding visual and aesthetic integration.
“We were so pleased to support this incredibly talented group of young engineers,” says Sebastian Chereau, marketing director for CCEI Worldwide. “It seems fitting that CCEI sponsored a team that won the prize for the most outstanding visual and aesthetic integration, as CCEI strives to provide visually appealing and intuitive automation and lighting systems popular for swimming pools and outdoor living landscapes.”
CCEI is very proud to sponsor this competition, as it encourages young people to work in fields such as engineering, innovation and the evolution of technology. CCEI’s financial contribution is used to purchase parts and tools for the robots (each robot contains over €5,000 worth of controllers, motors, sensors, cut-outs, 3D-printed parts, engraved parts, etc.). The sponsorship also helps with the costs associated with being a part of the competition including travel expenses and more.
