Explore Industries, a worldwide fiberglass pool and pool cover manufacturer, has launched Ultra Pool Care Squad, a new pool and spa service franchise targeting markets across Tennessee, Texas, Florida and Arizona.
Ultra Pool Care Squad was founded in 2020, and is led by a seasoned franchise leadership team who have been in the business of franchising for a combined 60-plus years. The leadership team includes Amy Lawhorne, Chief Operations Officer, former Chief Opening Officer of Authority Brands and Vice President of Outdoor Living Brands; Robert Mitchell, Head of Franchise Development, who held high-level franchise development roles at FranchiseBiz, The Casual Pint, Fantastic Sam’s and Sports Clips; and Toni McDivitt, Head of Training, who previously served as Director of Training at Bertucci’s and Guy’s Roofing.
“We’re backed by a global pool manufacturer and have a leadership group in place that offer franchisees crucial resources, advice and expertise needed to run and maintain a successful franchise – we have the unique ability to take this home service brand to the next level,” says Amy Lawhorne, Chief Operations Officer.
According to the 2020 Pool and Hot Tub Association Market Report, of the 128 million plus households in the United States, over 10 million have a pool or spa, and each year the number of new, inground, pool installations is in the tens of thousands.
“With pool ownership growing even before the pandemic surge in home services spending, franchises are positioned to succeed using a recurring revenue model that is recession-resistant and Amazon-proof, while also addressing the growing pool care needs of veteran and novice pool owners,” says Robert Mitchell, Head of Franchise Development for Ultra Pool Care Squad, noting there were over 97,000 pool installs in the United States in 2020. “We’re looking for franchisee candidates willing to take initiative and dive right into the residential pool aftermarket, and who want to grow their business and provide more value to customers and employees without geographically having to expand.”
Ultra Pool Care Squad requires an initial investment ranging from $75,000 to $153,000, as it requires no brick-and-mortar store and minimal employees. The company believes this will be an attractive opportunity for pool installers, snow removers, general contractors and plumbers as well as home services businesses, such as landscaping/lawn care, mosquito abatement and home cleaning, looking to diversify their offering.
Due to Ultra Pool Care Squad’s industry relationships, franchisees also have access to other channels of revenue they can choose to add to their business in addition to pool servicing, including the installation and maintenance of pool covers, repair of fiberglass pools, replacement of pool liners, and delivery/setup of spas. Pool equipment and branded chemicals will be added to optional channels over time.
Ultra Pool Care Squad provides franchisees with education and processes to run and support a franchise, marketing support and access to vendors. All franchisees must attend the 11-day Ultra Pool Care Squad University, featuring an interactive classroom and scenario-based, immersive training.
