Welcome to the new year, one that analysts project could be bright for pool and spa retailers. If your New Year's resolutions involve sharpening your sales skills, discovering new must-have products and learning a few new tricks of the trade, you're in luck. The Pool & Spa Show in Atlantic City, N.J., one of the industry's most popular trade shows, is just around the corner.
Among the highlights this year is the return of The Wall, a vibrant 2,000-square-foot space that offers a hands-on look at the latest industry technologies and innovations. Simply walk to aisle 1300 and take in demonstrations across a variety of subjects, including automation, lighting, heaters, tile/coping and more.
Looking to try something new? In addition to a robust schedule of education, The Pool & Spa Show has a lineup of specialty sessions that offer a deep dive into a focused subject. Have a newbie on the team? Send them to "From Rookie to All-Star: The Fundamentals of Pool & Spa Service," where they'll spend an afternoon learning about basic industry terminology, water chemistry and troubleshooting in the field. Want to learn more about plaster pools? "Diagnosing Plaster Finish Problems" is available in the Northeast for the first time at The Pool & Spa Show.
For those looking to blow off a little steam after a full day of learning and networking, there's the annual Welcome Party. This year it's returning to the Saloon Bar at the Wild Wild West (Bally's Casino). Last year's event had live music, food, games and a mechanical bull — and given how popular it was last year, tickets are likely to sell out early. Get yours for $20.
Ready to kick off 2018? So are we. We'll see you at the show.
