APSP announces the new online format for its Certified Maintenance Specialist Course. The CMS course gives industry students a foundation in understanding all aspects of pool and spa maintenance.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s industry students, the self-paced online format features videos, interactive exercises and quizzes. Course attendees have the option to purchase the full course or a specific module, such as water quality, structures, pool math or safety.

“We are proud to support students as they develop career paths within the industry,” says Rich Gottwald, president and CEO of APSP. “Our online training and certification is state-of-the-art and second to none. It not only enhances the student’s professional opportunities, but it allows companies to train employees quickly and efficiently.”

There are no prerequisites for the CMS course. Students can earn their CMS certification by taking the course online or at a regional event. Those that successfully complete the course can take the exam either at a local PSI testing center, through a scheduled proctored exam or on-site at a regional event.

“There has been a huge demand for advanced industry education,” says Maria O’Hara, director of APSP education. "Our goal is to continue to provide quality education to stay on the forefront of what the industry needs and students demand.”

Within the next year, APSP will release its other courses in the updated format: Pool & Spa Construction Course, Certified Service Technician Course, Retail Professional and Certified Hot Tub Technician Course.
