Show organizers report the 2017 PSP Expo, held Nov. 1-3 in Orlando, Fla., was a rousing success. More than 9,500 pool, spa and outdoor living professionals, representing 49 states and 73 countries, attended. A total of 463 companies exhibited on the expo floor, 56 of which were in the Outdoor Living Pavilion.
This year’s special events — the Welcome Party at Howl at the Moon and the PSP Block Party — received the highest turnout in years.
“It was unclear how Hurricane Irma would play a role in this year’s event,” says Tracy Garcia, PSP Expo show director. “Attendees driving in do play a significant part in overall numbers when we bring the show to areas like Orlando, where the industry is robust. While it did have some impact on registrations, we were pleased with the strong representation from Florida and the high level of energy on the show floor all three days.”
In support for those affected by hurricanes, the PSP Expo offered complimentary conference registration to attendees from afflicted regions. In addition, a panel discussion arranged by the PSP Expo helped professionals prepare for natural disasters including hurricanes, floods and wildfires.
The PSP Expo’s core conference program featured more than 45 sessions for builders, general business owners, service pros, commercial pros and outdoor living experts. Pre-conference programs were offered by APSP, GENESIS, NSPF, the American Shotcrete Association and the National Plasterers Council.
“The quality and depth of speakers, education sessions, attendees and exhibitors continues to grow and evolve,” says Rich Gottwald, president and CEO of APSP. “The International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo is the best place to connect with the leaders of the pool, spa and hot tub industry. We are proud to be the show sponsor.”
“Planning for Las Vegas is already under way,” Garcia says. “The city is a natural fit for our show because of our international base, the hotel options and number of flights. With our strategic partners, we’re looking at some significant changes to provide even more value, education, hands-on training and networking opportunities to our attendees.”
The 2018 PSP Expo will return to Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 31-Nov. 2, with pre-conference programs beginning Oct. 28, 2018.
