State of the Industry
AQUA is going to look a little different this May as the magazine will publish its first State of the Industry issue, dedicated to giving our readers a comprehensive snapshot of how the industry is faring nationwide. Our goals for this special issue are to provide a complete understanding of how the economy has affected the industry, how the industry is felling about this year and to provide readers a sense of where they stand compared to their colleagues.
In order for this project to be a success, we need your help. As an AQUA reader, you will soon receive an e-mail asking you to take part in an online survey. By participating in the survey, not only will you be eligible to win one of three Apple iPod touches and one of 50 AQUA t-shirts, but you will also be providing the data necessary for a clear picture of the state of the pool and spa industry.
Senate Subcommittee Seeks APSP Expertise
Last week the U.S. Senate energy subcommittee staff consulted with the APSP on a proposed amendment to S. 1462, the American Clean Energy Leadership Act of 2009. The APSP conferred with industry experts and counsel and confirmed that the proposed amendment is consistent with the clarified language achieved by the APSP in Title 20 and with the most recent draft of APSP-14.
The amendment details the procedure for testing and reporting standby energy in hot tubs. The bill was first introduced by Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-New Mexico, in July 2009. S. 1462 proposes to "promote the energy security of the United States," and improving the energy efficiency of appliances is one of many steps toward the goal the bill outlines.
Battery Operated
Just something fun for your viewing pleasure: DieHard Battery tested its products under extreme conditions and found among other things that you could essentially operate a hot tub using one.
