PHTA Welcomes New Vice President of Education

Mark C MilroyThe Pool & Hot Tub Alliance announces the appointment of Mark C. Milroy, CAE, as PHTA’s vice president of education effective Dec. 2. He is the first to serve in the newly developed vice president position. Milroy brings more than 30 years of extensive association, education and certification experience to his new role.

“Mark has an impressive track record of achievement in the education arena,” says PHTA president and CEO Sabeena S. Hickman, CAE says. “He’s an innovator and has developed cost-effective solutions to maximize competitiveness, increase revenues and improve customer service. I’m delighted Mark has accepted this new leadership position with PHTA and that he will oversee our education initiatives moving forward.”

Milroy has experience working with technical content, knowledge of progressive learning models and a track record of success in complex association environments. At PHTA, he will be responsible for PHTA education initiatives and the continued unification of Legacy Association of Pool and Spa Professional and Legacy National Swimming Pool Foundation education, as well as the oversight for proposed course updates to continue industry-leading programs.

Most recently, Milroy has led his own consulting practice where he has provided guidance in analyzing organizations’ education programming, identifying deficiencies and potential opportunities. He has also served as the managing director of Global Education at the American Industrial Hygiene Association and as vice president, learning, at the American Society of Association Executives. Previously, he has held senior-level positions at APICS, the Association for Operations Management; the National Association for College Admission Counseling; and John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio.

“It’s a privilege to become part of the PHTA team and to be able to create education for the aquatics industry,” Milroy says. “PHTA holds the leadership position in promoting the benefits, the fun and the safe enjoyment of being in and around the water.”

Milroy is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and received his master’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He holds a Certified Association Executive designation and currently serves on the ASAE CAE Commission. He will operate out of PHTA’s Alexandria, Va., office.
