APSP University Announces 2018 PSP Expo Course Lineup

The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals announces its education lineup for pool and spa builders, designers, service providers and retailers at the 2018 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo Oct. 28 to Nov. 3 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
 
APSP University Certification Courses offered include:
PSCC Pool & Spa Construction Course – Instructor Rick English, CBP, English Consulting.
This course is designed for novice and experienced pool and spa builders, as well as designers who need to know more about pool and spa construction.  This three-day session takes students through the APSP Builders Manual and gives key information to conform to industry standards and helps students prepare to sit for the CBP Certified Pool & Spa Building Professional exam.

CST Certified Pool & Spa Service Technician – Instructor Frank Goldstein, CBP, CST, Chesapeake Aquatic Consultants.
This course is ideal for experienced pool and spa service repair technicians looking to complete their skill set. The three-day course provides an overview of circulation, filtration, hydraulics and electricity and explains common problems with pool finishes and how to repair them. It takes students through the APSP Service Tech Manual and gives essential information to conform to industry standards and helps students prepare to sit for the CST Certified Pool & Spa Service Technician exam.
 
CMS Certified Pool & Spa Maintenance Specialist – Instructor Paul Wahler, CSP, Pool Service Company.
Designed for those new to the pool and spa industry or who work a pool maintenance route, this three-day course helps students gain a solid understanding of pool safety, circulation and filtration, pool maintenance and water quality.  Also, students will learn other vital topics such as electrical systems, pool structures and finishes, heaters and controls and customer service. The course takes students through the APSP Service Tech Manual and gives key information to conform to industry standards and helps students prepare to sit for the CMS Certified Pool & Spa Maintenance Specialist exam.

CHTT Certified Pool & Spa Hot Tub Technician – Instructor John Schaedler, Aqua Quip.
This three-day course is ideal for those servicing and repairing hot tubs. After completing the course, students will gain a wide body of practical knowledge on servicing and troubleshooting factory-built portable hot tubs, having mastered the essentials of hot tub water chemistry, electrical systems, circulation and filtration, and will learn tips and tricks for necessary repairs to interior surfaces.  The course takes students through the APSP Hot Tub Technician Manual and gives critical information to conform to industry standards and helps students prepare to sit for the CHTT Certified Pool & Spa Hot Tub Technician exam.

PPSO Professional Pool & Spa Operator Course – Instructor Scott Heusser, Idaho Pool Remodeling.
Students that take this one-day hybrid course must complete the PPSO online self-paced course prior to attending the Expo to complete this one-day, face-to-face class that includes the certification exam. This course is the industry’s new premier program for commercial swimming pool operators, managers, health officials, manufacturers, retailers and facility owners.  Students will gain an understanding of safety, basic water chemistry, pool circulation and filtration, pool and spa maintenance and water quality.  Also, they will learn about important topics such as record keeping, basic pool match calculations, contamination procedures, water testing and routine and preventative maintenance. This course takes students through the 13 chapters of the PPSO Professional Pool & Spa Operator Manual and gives students what they need to know to conform to commercial sector standards and prepares students to sit for the PPSO Professional Pool & Spa Operator certification exam.
 
Students who complete the certification courses will have the option to take their exam onsite, at a local PSI computer testing center in Las Vegas, or at a PSI computer testing center near their home.

Open to current CBP Certified Pool & Spa Building Professionals and CSP Certified Pool & Spa Service Professionals, this one-day workshop gives students practical skills and tips they need to teach these APSP University courses.  New trainers will gain a strong foundation in critical training skills, and seasoned trainers will be introduced to new approaches for delivering powerful training.
