The advancement of pool pump motor technology requires innovative thinking and continuous investment in R&D. This dual focus from Nidec’s U.S. MOTORS brand will be on full display at its Booth (#2316) at the International Pool, Spa, Patio Expo in November. U.S. MOTORS will proudly feature its Neptune motor line and its newest pool motor, the Neptune HybridTM, as well as two live motor-pump demonstrations.
One of the demonstrations at the U.S. MOTORS booth will illustrate how Neptune pool pump motors connect to three major pool control systems. The other demonstration will simulate the ease of connecting Neptune variable speed replacement motors with existing time clocks and select automation for worry-free operation.
U.S. MOTORS will also demonstrate the Neptune motors integrating with three major pool control systems during the Pool Pro Appreciation Event on Monday, November 11, from 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Nidec’s U.S. MOTORS brand, according to the company, has been developing and producing groundbreaking products for more than 100 years. Its Neptune line of variable-speed pool pump motors have been engineered and designed for high performance, energy savings and quiet operation. Now U.S. MOTORS is expanding the line with two new offerings for residential pools — a hybrid that features two motor technologies and a 3.45 HP motor designed for large pools.
The Neptune Hybrid is a patented motor and control combination that features a high-efficiency brushless permanent magnet (BPM) motor integrated with a standard PSC induction motor and a variable speed control. Like the other Neptune products, utilizing the Neptune Hybrid offers up to 80 percent energy savings for homeowners and meets the new efficiency regulations from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), which take effect in September 2025.
The Neptune Hybrid is an example of achieving greater efficiency through variable speed. When operating at 50% of speed, the motor uses only 12 to14% of the full speed power. The BPM is capable of variable-speed levels from 600 to 2,760 RPMs, ideal for circulating the water in residential pools. At 3,450 RPMs, the PSC motor activates, providing extra power needed for vacuuming the pool.
The new Neptune 3.45 HP features a variable-speed motor with integrated controls for energy efficiency and easy operation. This powerful motor is designed for large residential pools, and as with the entire Neptune line, will integrate with any new or existing pump, bringing variable speed capabilities to the pump and meeting DOE efficiency requirements for the current pump rule as well as the upcoming 2025 motor rule.
