The Northeast Spa & Pool Association (NESPA), in partnership with the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), announced the expansion of its membership territory. Beginning October 1, 2024, any pool, spa, or hot tub company in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania can become part of the leading industry associations through NESPA membership.
NESPA and PHTA have been in discussion about territory expansion for several years and see this as an opportunity for both organizations to grow together and have a larger impact on the industry as a whole, and particularly in the heavily populated Northeast region. Prior to this expansion, only Connecticut, New Jersey, and certain areas of eastern New York and eastern Pennsylvania were part of the NESPA membership territory.
This regional expansion has a number of benefits, including the growth of current local chapters and the development of additional chapters. By uniting the industry in the Northeast, more companies will have the ability to engage at both the local and national level. This also strengthens the industry’s grassroots advocacy efforts and allows the industry to speak with one voice when working with government officials and legislators at the state and federal levels.
“For over 65 years, NESPA has thrived because of its strong collection of local chapters that give members the chance to engage with their peers right in their backyard. NESPA and PHTA continue to grow both as individual organizations and as partners,” says Dominick Mondi, executive director of NESPA. “The opportunity to bring the benefits of a strong membership base and an active chapter to the rest of New York and Pennsylvania marks an exciting new chapter for NESPA, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on the pool and spa industry.”
As part of NESPA’s partnership with PHTA, all NESPA members automatically become PHTA members for no additional fee. This means that NESPA members receive access to a wide range of business resources, from professional certifications and educational programs to industry standards and codes. There are also numerous avenues for networking with fellow industry professionals, from becoming involved in both organizations’ chapters and committees to attending events such as The Pool & Spa Show, held annually in Atlantic City, N.J.
“NESPA has been an incredible partner to PHTA for more than six decades, and this new agreement strengthens our relationship even more,” says Sabeena Hickman, CAE, president and CEO of PHTA. “Together, we are looking forward to welcoming even more companies from the Northeast as a way to continue educating, advocating, and elevating the pool, spa, and hot tub industry as a whole.”
Existing PHTA members who will be within the NESPA region starting October 1 will be extended membership to NESPA at their current PHTA membership dues rate.
