Check the lighting deck boxes. In the US, I believe the code is to keep the ground and bond separate. In Canada, I believe they should be together.

I am in agreement that somewhere grounding conductor and the grounded conductor are bonded, but I'd be damned if it was in an obvious place. I will conduct some more testing in the morning but I wanted some feedback.

Job Overview
We have an immediate need for a customer service/technical support representative (CSTSR) who will be able to assist the Technical Sales Group with administrative functions associated with the sales order process. The CSTSR will assist with order entry and processing, RMA administration, customer account maintenance, customer contact and other activities as necessary to support various departments. The CSTSR will also provide advanced or level 2 technical support to Hawkeye dealers and customers via phone, email, or other means available. The CSTSR will engage in troubleshooting calls and will need to exhibit exemplary phone and communications skills in order to quickly focus in, diagnose, and offer a solution to the question at hand. The responsibilities of this position involve a consistently brisk pace of activity and the successful candidate will need to have the ability to exercise patience, tenacity, and high levels of energy. The day-to-day activities of the CSTSR include but are not limited to the following:

· Answer inbound calls, anticipate client needs, resolve concerns, and provide technical support on our products and services.
· Being personable is essential for effective communications with customers and peers.
· Research and consult as necessary to obtain technical information for clients.
· Sales order data entry from phone/fax/email/web sources.
· Provide good troubleshooting skills and think in a logical fashion.
· The ability to “multi-task” will be essential for long-term success.
· Exercise patience when dealing with customers’ inability to communicate clearly – patience is essential.
· A good knowledge of various types of control systems in the spa industry is a plus.

Job Skills and proficiencies
· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills must be demonstrated in work history.

· History of strong verbal and written language skills is required.
· Must be comfortable with the windows XP computer environment.

I am curious as to what types of mobile devices are typically carried by people in the pool industry.

I saw a number of people carrying BlackBerrys and iPhones at the recent trade show in Niagara. Android devices were harder to spot.

Do you use your phone for any apps or it is mostly just for phone calls? Anyone carry a tablet with them?

Pool Boy Pro, my new iPhone App for Pool owners and professionals has just been approved by Apple. It will be available on Tuesday August 30th and the light version Tuesday the 6th of September. It does water parameter logging, note taking, graphing, and you can setup many alerts to remind you to do all those tasks. It also has a calculator which you can edit to adjust for your specific product.

Public service message:

Do not cover your pool. It could blow away. This includes those with automatic covers. Unless your pool and it's equipment are on your homeowners, the repair is on you.

Boost your chlorine level to 10X the proper level shortly before it hits. 6% Bleach like Clorox or Great Value is best.

Turn off the system at the main panel's breaker to the sub-panel outside. before power goes out or you get a spike when another area goes off line, This will preserve your pumps and automation systems until power is reliable again.

Secure patio sets. Those with gunite pools might be able to pull the cushions off and set the chairs in the pool. They won't go anywhere. Obviously, don't do this with wrought iron type furniture. :-/

Turn tables upside down. They won't catch much wind that way.

Secure the shed.

Don't put things where they can fly. 100 MPH winds are no joke!

If anyone catches something I missed, please add it.

Being in the industry, I felt compelled to make these suggestions.

One of the most sucessful things we did was a combination event with other merchants in the shopping center where one of our stores is located. It was a golf event coordinated with a major golf tournament very popular in the area. Each business created a little golf hole relative to their business in front of their store, and the merchants' association sold the golf "course" cards for charity. People could play the course and then put their name in for a drawing for prizes, as i recall. Our store had a little pool "water hazard" with a floating aquagolf hole.

The event drew lots of traffice, was fun, and raised money for charity, and got all of us a lot of relatively free publicity.
