Visitors to this Matthews, N.C., home step out of the real world and into a fairy tale. The 11-by-23-foot fiberglass pool is only one highlight of this backyard. San Juan Fiberglass Pools of Charlotte constructed a brick fireplace, walkway and 130-foot-long wall from distressed brick and then acid washed it, adding a unique charm to the project. The wall is decorated with custom lattice and random bricks jut out to hold candles, custom decorations and natural-gas lights. Custom wooden storage bins sit on either side of the natural wood-burning fireplace, which is equipped with a natural gas igniter.
Irregular, stacked bluestone forms raised elevations, making the project even more intricate, while the tumbled bluestone of the pool decking unites the multiple elements. The plants, colorful flowers, furniture and waterfall make this backyard enchanting.
